The Digital Rag - One of the longest-running webzines on the internet

The Digital Rag - History

The Digital Rag - One of the longest-running webzines on the internet. Started in 1994 during the heydays of the growth of the internet, The Digital Rag has followed the development of the internet from curiosity to every-day requirement.

The Digital Rag is where I and my associates write - mostly about business (small and large) use of technology but also about some lighter subjects. There has been a Digital Rag since our first ISP - Wimsey Information Services, in 1994. Over the years it has touched on all manner of things technical and Internet - we continue the tradition here.

You'll find much of my (Richard Pitt) writing here, and much of my associates' writings on their own sites - but there are times when they cover something relevant to you, my customer base, and times when I write things that cover their areas. You'll find articles by David Ingram (the Taxman) and Gary Bannerman (broadcaster and marketing guru) as well as others. Our scope is international as well as interdisciplinary - from business basics - taxation, accounting, policies, procedures - to cross-border concerns - visas, security, treaties, differences - to marketing, selling, delivering, supporting and such. Again, here you'll find things with a technical bent but I'm not afraid to delve into legal (although I'm not a lawyer - you really need to get your own) concerns, policies and procedures where they concern technology and its use, etc. Of particular interest are items on Copyright as it unfolds in the various countries the Internet touches - it's impact on you, the business man and individual, as well as other aspects of policy, security laws, tactics and concerns.

This is not just "another techy geek site" - Yes, sometimes there are technical articles but we try to slant them toward those who must deal with technology daily without possibly really understanding it. The vast majority of people in the world don't know where their computer ends and the "Internet" begins - or where the information is stored, how it might get lost, or why they should even be concerned. This site will help - and if we get off on a tangent we have you, our readers, to bring us back to our senses with your questions - fire away!
